going on the Jamboree
Scouting in Ireland celebrates it’s 100th birthday in 2008.
As part of the celebrations,
Scouting Ireland is organising an International Jamboree. Our Summer
Camp next
year will be at this Jamboree, which will take place at Punchestown
Racecourse in
Co. Kildare between Saturday August 2nd and Sunday August 10th
2008.
A Scout Jamboree is a unique scouting experience that every
scout should have the
opportunity to enjoy. Jamboree 2008 will celebrate 100
years of Scouting In Ireland
and will be the first major camp of its kind in Ireland for
some time. In the region of
10,000 Scouts are expected to be at the Jamboree with us.
The Jamboree will offer a series of programmes both on and
off site, utilizing many
aspects of our Scouting Programmes. Scouts will camp under
canvas in open fields
and set up site along with Scouts both from Ireland and overseas.
The Cost of the
Camp will include all Ceremonies (Opening, Closing &
International Day), Activities
on and off site, Food for the duration of the Camp, Camp
Issue (Incl. Camp
neckerchief and Badge) & Activity Transport to name just
a few.
This camp will cost roughly €400 per Sea Scout. This will include a
camp fee of
€350 being charged by Scouting Ireland, and roughly €50 (exact figure
available later)
to include other expenses including transport to and from Punchestown.
Deposits of €50 are due by 16th November. If you intend on
going, the deposit must be
in by this date as there is a high demand for the available places in
the Jamboree (over
10,000 preliminary bookings have been made!!). The next €150 is due in
February, and the remaining €200 is due by June.
This is gonna be great!
